Started in Karonga · Supporting communities across Malawi
Founded in Karonga, NEGO Foundation welcomes donations from across Malawi and works to bring education, health and opportunity to communities throughout the country.
Started and based in Karonga, we welcome donations from every part of Malawi to help support communities countrywide.
Who we are
NEGO Foundation began in Karonga in 2020 and is based there today. From our roots in the north, we welcome donations from across Malawi to support community-led work throughout the country.
Our purpose is to widen access to learning and health, reduce poverty, and create opportunity for children, women and young people in communities across Malawi.
Where we focus
School uniforms, exercise books, pens, mentoring and leadership opportunities for young learners.
Health awareness, clean water, hygiene, nutrition, clean-ups, and reusable menstrual pads for dignity.
Vocational training, carpentry, sewing, digital literacy and entrepreneurship skills for youth.
Direct community care for vulnerable children, older persons, and persons living with disabilities.
Eco-hospitality, guiding, conservation, cultural heritage, and local Lake Malawi crafts.
Our work in action
Distributing exercise books, pens, school uniforms, and mentorship so economic barriers don't keep children from learning.
Supporting girls with reusable menstrual hygiene kits and mobilizing community clean-ups across Karonga.
Equipping school leavers with hands-on vocational and business skills so they can generate self-reliant livelihoods.
Ensuring older persons and vulnerable community elders receive food support and essential household care.

A note from our founder
Lewis Mkambala founded the organisation in 2020 as Youth Unity Association and renewed it as NEGO Foundation in 2024.
Inspired by his late grandmother, Evagelister, the foundation continues to work through love, faith and service to the most vulnerable members of our community in Karonga and across Malawi.
